What you’ll learn

The Emboss tool projects content onto the detected target surface. Its handles let you adjust position, rotation, scale and emboss depth before the final CAD boolean is calculated.

Step by step

01

Create a cylinder

Create a cylinder at the size you need. For testing, about 50 mm diameter and 50 mm height works well.

02

Open Emboss

Start the Emboss tool and select Text as the content. Enter your text and begin with a small depth such as 1 mm.

03

Position the projection plane

Move the projection plane in front of the cylinder wall. Once ShapeAnywhere detects the wall, the preview is projected onto the curved surface.

04

Align the text

Use the cyan handle to move, the violet ring to rotate and the white handle to scale proportionally. Watch the preview directly on the cylinder.

05

Choose raised or recessed

Choose Raised for protruding text or Recessed for an engraving. You can also adjust the depth directly on the model with the depth handle.

06

Commit the emboss

Click Emboss and wait for the final CAD calculation. Inspect the new model edges from several angles before exporting.
